About the position
The main purpose for the Assistant Metallurgist isto provide support services to the Metallurgy sections in order to ensure plant and process optimization The objectives of Metallurgical Development are to develop new and improved processes and plants to produce more or better grade of existing products or to design plants to produce new products. The value add of this group can be very significant to increasing the value of the client. Knowledge required: The quality of outputs produced in this role has a direct bearing on optimal plant functioning as various operational and metallurgical decisions are based on the information that this produced. Delays within this role or from support services such as the Laboratory, could have serious operational and direct financial implications within the organization. Educational requirement:
An understanding of technical data and broader exposure across various plants in the organization would contribute to effective functioning. However, this is an entry level role and could typically be used as a feeder position for the Metallurgist position.
Matric / N3 (with Maths & Science)
National Diploma (Metallurgical / Technical) is desirable to ensure a deeper understanding of both the process and the technical data.
