About the position
We are seeking an Assistant Manufacturing Engineer to join our Client in Durban.
Reporting to the Group Technical Director, the ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in Engineering.
This position offers the opportunity to work on various projects in Engineering and Technical sectors. The responsibilities include assisting senior engineers in project planning, design development, and implementation.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In your position as Assistant Engineer your duties and responsibilities include but shall not be limited to:
- Your role will support all Company sites and some travel will be required
- Defining and writing of procedures, process flows and work instructions
- Identification and implementation of efficiency improvement projects
- Implementation of capital projects across all sites: scoping, costing, procurement, installation and commissioning
- Assess new tooling requirements and balance machine capacities
- Assisting in the factory and understanding the machinery in order to support production when required
- Assisting with budgeting
- Keeping of records and filing
- Creating orders on the system
- Spares procurement
- Tooling procurement
- Reading drawings
- Attend and contribute to the monthly operations, SHE, production and Quality meetings
- Organise and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
- Optimise facility layouts, production lines, machine operations
- Train staff in new and existing processes
- Collaborate with other engineers, contractors and suppliers and stay in touch with new technologies
- Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
- Meet with customers for on technical and quality matters
- Any other ad hoc functions that may be required of you
REQUIREMENTS
- BSc or BEng Civil Engineering Degree: Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical (No Diplomas)
- 5-10 years relevant experience
- Defining and writing of procedures, process flows and work instructions
- Identification and implementation of efficiency improvement projects
- Implementation of capital projects across all sites: scoping, costing, procurement, installation and commissioning
- Budgeting/Costing and SHEQ experience

REMUNERATION
- R25 000 - R50 000 Basic
- Car allowance (+/- R5300- R9950)
- Fuel Card (Based on reasonable usage, R4000-R6000/month- gets added to earnings and then deducted again, as employee pays tax on this amount)
- 50% medical aid and Gap Cover (50% of the medical aid & Gap Cover is covered by company and other 50% comes from basic as a deduction.
