About the position

A respected national financial services institution is seeking a Committee Secretary (Intermediate) to join its Corporate Secretariat team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced governance professional to support board and executive structures while contributing to strong corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Company Secretary, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive company secretarial and governance support to Board Committees, Executive Committees and senior leadership structures. The role requires a highly organised professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to operate confidently within a high-level executive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide company secretarial and governance support to Board Committees and Executive Committees.
  • Coordinate and manage committee meetings including preparation of agendas, meeting packs and logistics.
  • Attend meetings and draft accurate minutes, resolutions and action registers.
  • Maintain statutory records, committee documentation and governance registers in line with legislative requirements and best practice.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of corporate governance frameworks, policies and instruments.
  • Support board processes including director inductions, governance updates and board evaluations.
  • Manage disclosure registers and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and support governance reporting requirements.
  • Ensure proper records management and preservation of institutional knowledge within the Secretariat function.

Minimum Requirements:

  • LLB, BAdmin (Law), BCom (Law), BA (Law) or an equivalent legal qualification.
  • 4-6 years' experience in a company secretarial environment.
  • At least 4 years' experience as an Assistant Company Secretary or Committee Secretary, preferably within the public sector environment.

Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Sound knowledge of Company Law, including the Companies Act (2008) and related regulations.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance best practices, including King IV.
  • Knowledge of governance and regulatory frameworks applicable to public sector entities.
  • Experience working with board management systems and company secretarial processes.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with board members, executives and stakeholders at all levels.
  • High levels of confidentiality, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
