About the position

We are looking for a meticulous, experienced, and highly organized individual to execute our comprehensive daily and monthly financial tasks. This crucial role requires a strong understanding of full-function bookkeeping, hands-on experience with Palladium accounting software would be advantageous, and knowledge in import/export financial processes, including the handling of purchase orders. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, capable of working independently and collaboratively, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial records.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily & Monthly Financial Tasks:
  • Execute all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare and manage payroll, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL, Bargaining Council).
  • Maintaining employee records
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and manage petty cash.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and filing systems.
  • Liaise with auditors during year-end audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
  • Utilize Palladium accounting software proficiently for all accounting functions.
  • Provide support to management on financial matters as required.
  • Purchasing of office supplies and other consumables.
  • Import/Export:
  • Process and reconcile import/export documentation, including clearing agent invoices, duties, and levies.
  • Execute foreign currency transactions and revaluations.
  • Track, reconcile and receipt stock at landed costs for imported goods.
  • Purchase Order Management:
  • Tracking purchase orders
  • Reconcile purchase orders with invoices and delivery notes.
  • Capturing of stock on Palladium

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as a Bookkeeper
  • Relevant bookkeeping qualification (e.g., Diploma in Bookkeeping, NQF Level 4/5 Bookkeeping qualification, or similar)
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Proven experience in handling financial aspects of import/export operations. (e.g. landed costs, foreign currency, customs documentation).
  • Solid experience in handling processing of purchase orders.
  • Strong understanding of South African accounting principles (IFRS for SMEs) and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Advantageous: proficiency and hands-on experience with Palladium accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport (advantageous).
