We’re partnering with a forward-thinking Municipal Council in New Zealand looking for an Asset Engineer – Transportation to join their Delivery and Enablement team.
This is not just a technical role. It’s an opportunity to influence long-term infrastructure strategy, guide smart investment decisions and help build transport networks that are resilient, efficient and ready for the future.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll sit at the centre of infrastructure planning, working across teams and with key external partners to ensure transport assets are optimised and future-fit.
• Lead long-term infrastructure planning for roads, bridges, pathways and transport networks
• Develop Forward Works Plans and renewal strategies that balance performance, risk and cost
• Use data, modelling and analysis to support evidence-based decisions
• Contribute to Asset Management Plans and Long Term Planning frameworks
• Build and manage relationships with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders
• Provide input into development and subdivision applications
• Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, practical insights for decision-makers
• Support the development of strategic and detailed business cases for key infrastructure projects
What You Bring
• A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in transportation, infrastructure or asset management environments
• Exposure to long-term planning and infrastructure strategy
• A solid understanding of asset management principles
• Experience within Local Government or a similar environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A naturally analytical mindset with commercial awareness
Nice to have:
• Experience with network modelling tools
