ROLE OVERVIEW:
Overall accountability for CKD assembly plant operations, ensuring performance across production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety in line with OEM and corporate standards.
The role provides end-to-end operational leadership, drives continuous improvement, ensures full compliance, and acts as the key interface with senior management, OEM stakeholders, and service providers.
Minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Operations Management, with a postgraduate qualification in Management or Lean Manufacturing considered highly advantageous.
- 7 + years’ experience in automotive manufacturing, including management experience.
- Heavy automotive industry experience (non-neg).

- Operational management of a high-volume assembly or fabrication line.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Lead overall plant operations with regard to assembly, quality, logistics, maintenance, and safety while representing the CKD Assembly Plant on the BU’s Management Committee (Manco).
- Manage and integrate production planning, sales targets, customer requirements, OEM production, shipping logistics, and technical matters associated with the assembly plant.
- Translate OEM and corporate objectives into measurable plant targets.
- Ensure CKD assembly processes meet OEM standards and homologation requirements.
- Own and manage production planning, output, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Oversee plant budgeting, cost control, and capital expenditure in conjunction with the Management Committee, Finance, and Procurement departments.
- Liaise with the Sales Director and Managing Director on sales forecasting and re-ordering of CKD kits.
- Ensure legal, regulatory, and environmental compliance in conjunction with the technical team.
- Identify, manage, and resolve matters related to performance of assembly plant operators in conjunction with service providers.
- Interface with OEM principals, regulators, suppliers, and senior management.
- Champion a quality culture, safety performance, and ethical conduct.
- Integrate reports from shipping and logistics, technical, and quality disciplines to produce weekly production reports and forecasts for senior management.
