About the position

Artwork Packaging Technologist
Reports to the New Product Development Manager
Based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town

Our client import and export seafood products from and to various countries worldwide. They are looking to recruit an Artwork Packaging Technologist with a BSc Food Science or related degree.

Job purpose:
Review all artwork and packaging specs. Ensure compliance.
Sustainability knowledge seafood (Sassi WWF criteria) and packaging requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance: Ensure that artwork and packaging materials comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, technical, manufacturing, clients and suppliers to ensure that artwork and packaging materials meet requirements and are produced on time.
  • Technical expertise: Provide technical expertise on packaging materials, labelling, and artwork requirements.
  • Review and approve artwork: Review and approve artwork for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Attention to detail: Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Review all die-lines.
  • Manage bar-codes. Validations, Open list, Issue bar codes
  • Maintain artwork folder and ensure all documents are complete and always updated.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends. Stay current with industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies in sustainability.
  • Review specs

Qualifications/Skills:- Food Technologist Diploma or BSc.- Computer literate (MS Office)- Matric.- HACPP & PRP Certificate.- Food Safety Certificate.- Proven experience in artwork and packaging development/review, preferably in the food or pharmaceutical industry.- Label legislation R146 and NRCS regulations
Experience needed:- 3-5 years relevant experience, Industry exposure advantageous.
