ARTISAN ELECTRO MECHANIC – MINING6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Emalahleni, Mpumalanga



Fempower Personnel is recruiting an experienced Artisan Electro Mechanic for a six-month fixed-term contract opportunity based in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga.



The successful candidate will join a technical maintenance environment and will be responsible for ensuring the availability and reliability of machinery, vehicles and equipment through effective maintenance, servicing, fault finding, repairs and breakdown support.



Mining industry experience is essential for this position. Candidates must have worked within the mining sector or a mining-related operational environment and have practical experience maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment used in demanding operational conditions.



Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and servicing diesel machinery, vehicles and equipment.
  
  
• Performing fault finding and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and their root causes.
  
  
• Carrying out repairs, servicing and functionality testing of machinery and equipment.
  
  
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and call-outs, including breakdowns at operational/customer sites.
  
  
• Providing breakdown maintenance, service support and, where required, roadside assistance.
  
  
• Conducting scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery, vehicles and equipment.
  
  
• Performing operational and functionality tests following maintenance and repairs.
  
  
• Conducting regular equipment and site inspections to identify potential faults, defects and maintenance requirements.
  
  
• Assisting with technical investigations, root-cause analysis and recommending appropriate technical solutions.
  
  
• Monitoring the availability of required spare parts and initiating procurement requests where necessary.
  
  
• Completing maintenance records, job cards, investigation reports, stock administration and other required technical documentation.
  
  
• Ensuring compliance with applicable operational processes, procedures, systems and safety requirements.
  
  

These responsibilities reflect the client's emphasis on breakdown support, preventative maintenance, spare-parts coordination and technical investigations.



Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent, with Mathematics and Science.
  
  
• Electro Mechanic Trade Test Certificate – essential.
  
  
• Valid driver's licence.
  
  
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electro Mechanic.
  
  
• Previous experience within the mining industry or mining-related environment – essential.
  
  
• Strong hands-on experience in the maintenance, servicing, fault finding and repair of machinery and equipment.
  
  
• Experience working with diesel machinery, vehicles and specialised equipment.
  
  
• Sound knowledge of preventative and breakdown maintenance practices.
  
  
• Ability to diagnose technical faults and perform root-cause analysis.
  
  
• Ability and willingness to respond to breakdowns, call-outs and operational emergencies.
  
  
• Willingness to work standby, overtime and shifts where operationally required.
  
  
• Willingness and ability to travel in line with business requirements, including travel across Africa.
  
  

Advantageous:
At least 2 years' experience as an Artisan Electrician working on specialised machinery and equipment.



Safety & ComplianceCandidates should be comfortable operating within a highly regulated industrial environment and have an understanding of applicable health, safety and operational requirements. Exposure to legislation and standards applicable to mining and industrial operations, including the Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Explosives Act, will be relevant to the position.
