Research and Development Department has a vacancy for an Artisan within the Amengro division. Applications are invited from people who meet the qualification and experience requirements below.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To render specialist skills such as boiler making, machining, materials cutting to Armour Development for preparation of armour targets and to conduct general activities in the Armour Development workshop.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Construction of armour targets and test equipment in accordance with specifications received.
• Flame cutting, grinding and welding of armour steel and specialised materials for construction of armour targets.
• Responsible for the marking and storage of all materials in accordance with prescribed procedure.
• Responsible for the workshop maintenance.
• Operating of hoist equipment e.g. Moby lift, overhead crane and forklift.
• Assistance with vehicle maintenance and fault finding.
• Driver for the transporting of targets and equipment.
• Assistance in ballistic and explosive tests by setting up equipment and being involved in physical activity.
• Provide monthly inputs to Supervisor on materials in stock.
• Work in accordance with SHE regulations in the execution of duties.

QUALIFICATION

• Qualified boilermaker / welder
• Trade Test in Boiler making
• Driver's licence (EC1)
• Statutory qualifications on vehicle mounted crane, overhead crane and forklift

EXPERIENCE

• 2 - 4 years' experience in manufacturing environment:
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, Oxy Acetylene etc.)
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

• Welding and the operating of cutting equipment
• Knowledge of the OHS Act
• Knowledge of Armour materials and storage thereof
