CLIENT
A long standing animal health multinational with products under Act 101 and Act 36 across ruminants, poultry, swine, equine and companion animals.
PURPOSE
Position reports to the regional sales manager.
The Area Sales Representative will be responsible for effectively managing a designated territory by detailing, selling, and promoting the clients product range to achieve and exceed set financial targets. The role includes managing clients effectively by regularly visiting co-ops, farmers, pharmacies, and veterinarians. Additional responsibilities include managing promotions and sales, as well as resolving any issues that may arise from customers.
REQUIREMENTS
Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, specifically animal health.

Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and isiZulu.

Able to manage a large territory, ensuring regular visits to all clients.

Capable of visiting farmers, co-ops, pharmacies, and veterinarians in remote areas, keeping them informed about products through farmers’ days and training sessions.
Willing and able to travel extensively, including overnight stays when required.
Must be willing and able to travel to Eswatini for one week each month.
Must possess a valid South African passport.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Fluent in isiZulu.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Territory Management: Conduct territory analysis, identify high-potential areas, establish and maintain client relationships, manage budgets, identify and report new opportunities, and ensure promotions are planned and successfully implemented according to the quarterly marketing schedule.
Detailing/Selling: Implement selling strategies to meet customer requirements, promote the clients products within the specified marketing timeframe, determine customer needs and apply solution selling techniques, and continually improve selling skills through coaching.
Pharmacovigilance Reporting: Report all PV-Works cases, including Adverse Events (AE) and product quality defects, to the responsible Technical Veterinarian or designated Responsible Person (such as Pharmacovigilance or QA Managers).
Customer Engagement: Organize and present at farmers’ days and information sessions with customers.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Preferable qualification in Animal Health/Veterinary Science/Agriculture or related
Able to use standard business software and communication tools.
SAAHA certificate will be an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the livestock industry, preferably within the animal health sector.
Previous sales experience preferred.
