About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Area Manager to oversee and drive operational excellence across multiple sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective implementation of business strategies, maintaining high service standards, and leading regional teams to success. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in operations, sales, finance, and people management.
Key ResponsibilitiesArea Management & Operations
- Execute strategic and operational plans in alignment with Head Office directives.
- Train, mentor, and develop regional teams to ensure optimal performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with service providers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Manage both company-owned and third-party branches and truck stops.
- Monitor stock levels, cash-up accuracy, and service delivery to minimize losses.
- Conduct regular site visits, with increased focus on high-volume locations.
Sales
- Support the execution of sales and marketing strategies.
- Drive customer growth across corridors, products, and services.
- Analyze competitor and customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
- Conduct market visits to assess route coverage and explore new sales avenues.
Finance
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to develop and manage budgets.
- Monitor cost-saving initiatives and ensure adherence to financial plans.
- Ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
Regulatory, Compliance, Governance & Legal
- Work closely with Legal & Compliance to manage risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Maintain up-to-date licensing and regulatory knowledge.
- Implement actions to mitigate operational risks.
People & HR
- Recruit high-caliber talent and foster a high-performance culture.
- Ensure all staff contracts are compliant with company policy and local legislation.
- Address performance and compliance issues promptly and professionally.
- Continuously manage and develop team performance.
Requirements
- B.Com or Business-related degree (MBA is advantageous).
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Proven experience in sales, logistics, operations, finance, and business development.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset and business acumen.
- Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills.
- Multilingual (depending on the area).
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- High resilience and ability to manage teams effectively.
- Strong administrative and presentation skills.
