About the position
Purpose of the Role
The Area Manager – Coastal will oversee the daily operations, sales performance, and staff management of retail stores located in the coastal provinces. This role is responsible for ensuring that all stores operate efficiently, meet their sales targets, uphold brand standards, and deliver exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operations & Store Performance
- Oversee the operations of multiple retail stores within the coastal region
- Monitor and drive achievement of store sales targets, KPIs, and profitability
- Ensure stores comply with operational policies, procedures, and brand guidelines
- Conduct regular store visits to assess performance, merchandising, and customer experience
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support Store Managers to ensure effective staff performance and development
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training store-level staff
- Implement performance management processes and support HR initiatives across stores
- Foster a positive and customer-focused culture across all stores
Customer Experience & Brand Integrity
- Ensure all stores deliver consistent, premium-level customer service aligned with the brand
- Support local execution of national marketing and promotional campaigns
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and in-store presentation
Stock & Inventory Management
- Collaborate with Planning and Logistics to manage stock levels, replenishment, and shrinkage control
- Oversee stocktakes and ensure inventory accuracy across all stores in the region
Reporting & Analysis
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on store performance, sales trends, and regional challenges
- Analyse performance metrics and develop strategies to address underperforming areas
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in multi-store retail management, preferably in a premium or lifestyle brand
- Proven track record of managing and motivating diverse retail teams across locations
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to analyse sales data and operational reports
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to customer experience excellence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and retail POS systems
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the coastal region
- Tertiary qualification in Retail, Business, or related field preferred
