About the position
Role purpose and context:
The Agile Coach Consultant partners with teams and leaders across the company to embed effective Agile, Kanban, and Flight Levels ways of working. The role coaches’ individuals, teams, and leadership on process, mindset, and tooling, using data and LLM-enabled insight to improve flow, delivery predictability, and time-to-value. Success is measured in outcomes: visual management lives across every squad, and a sustained reduction in average cycle time.
Engagement and location:
- Contract engagement begins with 2 days for 6 months with monthly review checkpoints.
- Remote, with working-hours overlap into the South Africa business day (and, where possible, US Eastern) for facilitated sessions.
- Reports to Chief Technology Officer. Works alongside a separate DevOps consultant who owns the delivery dashboards and their data pipeline.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Coach teams, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners on Agile, Kanban, and Flight Levels practice to improve flow and delivery predictability.
- Facilitate and continuously improve key ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and team ways of working, primarily through facilitated group sessions supported by targeted 1:1s.
- Diagnose organisational and team-level impediments and design pragmatic, metrics-driven improvement plans.
- Set up and optimise the team workflow tool (ClickUp is the company standard) so every squad has visible boards, a clean workflow, and reliable flow data. Dashboard build and reporting infrastructure to the DevOps consultant. Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, or Asana is useful for bringing in patterns from elsewhere.
- Configure and optimise workflow tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, ClickUp, Asana) to support visibility, reporting, and flow metrics.
- Build internal coaching capability by mentoring Scrum Masters and coaches.
- Apply LLM/AI tooling to surface delivery insights and accelerate team improvement.
Must-have technical skills / experience:
- Proven hands-on experience coaching multiple teams concurrently in an Agile/Kanban environment.
- Solid grasp of flow-based methods (Kanban, Flight Levels) and Scrum framework fundamentals.
- Experience defining and reporting on flow/delivery metrics (cycle time, throughput, WIP, predictability).
Confident working directly with engineering and product teams to embed sustainable practice change.
Minimum expertise required
- Kanban coach (AKC) or Flight Levels coach (FLC)
- Experience as a scrum master
- Superb English written and verbal communication skills
- Experience configuring a workflow tool (Jira, Azure DevOps, ClickUp, Asana)
