About the position
Background:
- Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited ("WHC") is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences
- WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives
- In addition, WHC offers a range of products and services to Academics
Division: Division of Education Leadership, Policy and Skills (ELPS)
Main purpose of the job:
- To work closely with and provide high-level administrative support to various stakeholders
Location:
- Wits Education Campus, Parktown
Key performance areas:
- Assist with drawing up and preparing budgets
- Monitor and administer short course applications
- Set up and manage short courses on the relevant systems
- Provide administrative support for the selection of participants
- Prepare course materials and coordinate venues and meal arrangements
- Assist with flight and accommodation bookings for students
- Facilitate invoicing processes and capture payments accurately
- Capture marks and issue certificates
- Assist with processing payments for consultants
- Support procurement activities and related administrative processes
- Compile and prepare financial reports for funders
Required minimum education and training:
- Diploma or Degree in Business Administration or a Related Field
Required minimum work experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Exceptional organisational and administrative skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including intermediate-level Microsoft Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise tact, and always demonstrate professionalism
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Own reliable transport will be advantageous, and be available after hours to respond to unplanned emergencies or queries when required
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as service providers
