About the position

Our client, a leader in their field, is recruiting for a dynamic Accounts Payable Expense Manager to join their growing team.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, responsibilities include:
Team Leadership and Management:

  • Managing and mentoring a team of 10-12 accounts payable specialists
  • Responsible for expense management (end to end)
  • Organising training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge
  • Conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback

Accounts Payable Expenses Processing:

  • Overseeing the timely and accurate processing of invoices, statement recons and payments
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Managing month-end and year-end closing processes

Vendor Management:

  • Maintaining strong working relationships with vendors
  • Negotiating payment terms and handling disputes effectively
  • Ensuring vendor accounts are reconciled accurately, and resolutions are executed on for outstanding items

Process Improvement:

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborating with IT and other departments to enhance AP systems
  • Developing and maintaining internal controls and procedures

Stakeholder relationships:

  • Maintaining vendor relationships
  • Building and maintaining strong internal stakeholder relationships
  • Managing efficiency and effectiveness of supplier onboarding
  • Working closely with the procurement team to ensure compliance with procurement policies
  • Working closely with Accountants
  • Collaborating with IT and other departments to enhance AP systems
  • Developing and maintaining internal controls and procedures

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Preparing detailed reports regarding AP metrics for senior management
  • Managing accruals, forecasts and month end processes
  • Monthly reporting on all Balance sheet control accounts
  • Monthly maintenance of expense age analysis
  • Resolving all vendor queries with clerks to minimise ageing of the ledgers
  • Managing internal and external audit queries related to accounts payable
  • Maintaining and monitoring hierarchy access on finance systems

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is a minimum requirement
  • Honors - CIMA preferred requirement
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficient in AP software and systems
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
