About the position

We're partnering with a well-established manufacturing company based in Cape Town to recruit an experienced and detail-driven Accounts Payable/Inventory Controller to join their growing finance team.

This role requires both strong financial acumen and hands-on experience in inventory management. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager and cross-functional teams, ensuring accuracy in supplier accounts, reconciliations, and inventory records to support operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Duties

  • Daily capturing of supplier invoices with correct cost centre allocations.

  • Verifying purchase orders and following up with internal departments.

  • Managing payment-related queries from suppliers and staff.

  • Monthly supplier account reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.

  • Preparing payment schedules and processing petty cash and credit card reconciliations.

  • Capturing forex variances and updating monthly rates (Oanda).

  • Importing and reconciling bank transactions within Sage Evolution.

  • Reconciling the cashbook and ensuring proper allocations.

Inventory Management Duties

  • Maintain and monitor stock levels to meet production demands.

  • Oversee and reconcile regular stock and cycle counts.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and process stock adjustments and write-offs.

  • Liaise with procurement and production to ensure accurate GRNs and stock data.

  • Maintain ERP inventory records, manage stock codes and BOMs.

  • Prepare monthly inventory reports and stock movement summaries.

Minimum Requirements

Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in accounts payable, reconciliations, and inventory control.

Systems Knowledge: Solid experience with Sage Evolution (EVO) or similar ERP systems.

Excel: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, etc.).

Soft Skills:

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Proactive and solution-focused.
