About the position
Our client, a manufacturer of eco-friendly solid clay face bricks & pavers, is looking for an Accountant to join their team at their offices outside of Stellenbosch.
This role requires ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the finance function while supporting the CFO and broader management team. The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach are essential for success in this role.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
- University degree (B.Comm, B.Acc) with Article experience (Preferred)
- SAIPA (or similar) qualification
Experience & Skills – Required:
- 5-10 years Bookkeeping / Accounting experience
- Experience with Sage Pastel Accounting and Payroll
- Experience with Sage, Xero, Pastel Partner or similar systems advantageous
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, property development or project-based environments beneficial
- Fluent in business English
- Own reliable transport
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and process financial transactions
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Perform bank, cash, credit card, debtors, creditors and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare accounts up to trial balance
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes
- Prepare VAT, tax and statutory submissions
- Assist with SARS reviews/audits and external audit preparation
- Implement and maintain financial controls and processes
- Reconcile intercompany balances
- Support the CFO and management with ad hoc reporting and analysis
