Accountant

About the position

Build for the future by joining a Woodmead-based technology business powering the connection between ICT infrastructure and green energy. The company supports large-scale public-sector and municipal projects, with a nationwide footprint and a mission to improve service delivery through citizen-focused digital ecosystems. 
 Duties & Key Responsibilities

• Process daily transactions and maintain accurate records in Sage Accounting.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and complete month-end and year-end procedures.
• Submit VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL returns.
• Support provisional and corporate income tax compliance.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and maintain the fixed-asset register.
• Liaise with SARS, auditors, banks and external service providers.
• Improve accounting processes and support broader finance requirements.

Requirements

• Three to five years’ accounting experience in a similar role.
• Practical Sage Accounting experience.
• Hands-on SARS eFiling and tax-submission experience.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of South African accounting principles and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and corporate income tax.

Education

• Three-year diploma or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.

Soft Skills
Detail-oriented, ethical and dependable, with strong problem-solving and English communication skills. Must work independently, protect confidential information and deliver accurately under pressure and tight deadlines.

Salary
The proposed salary range is R30k - R40k per month. If you can demonstrate exceptional value, an offer of up to R50k per month can be negotiated. Any offer will be based on qualifications, experience and skills.
