About the position
AccountantA highly respected property development and finance group is seeking a detail-oriented, technically sound Accountant to join their finance team based in Waterkloof Glen, Pretoria. Reporting to the Financial Managers, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for the monthly and annual accounting functions across group companies and property portfolios, ensuring absolute compliance with IFRS and driving total audit readiness.
Key Performance Areas:
- Financial Accounting & Trial Balance Management: Process all year-end and month-end journals, including payroll, investments, depreciation, provisions, lease smoothing, and fair value adjustments. Perform regular reviews of general ledgers and trial balances for accuracy and completeness.
- Intercompany & Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive balance reconciliations for intercompany debtors, creditors, and loan accounts to ensure they agree across the group. Handle project payment schedules, supplier balances, and deposit reconciliations.
- Financial Statement Compilation: Utilize Caseware to compile annual financial statements in strict accordance with IFRS frameworks.
- Taxation & Compliance: Calculate, prepare, and complete all relevant statutory submissions, including company income tax, provisional tax, and VAT returns.
- Cash Flow & Management Reporting: Formulate cash flow forecasting models for group companies and properties. Prepare monthly management reporting packs for corporate clients and listed funds.
- Debtors Oversight: Monitor outstanding debtor balances, issue customer invoices, oversee recovery procedures, and escalate delinquent accounts for legal action where necessary.
Minimum Requirements:- Education: A completed B.Com Accounting degree.
- Articles: Successfully completed SAICA Articles (non-negotiable).
- Commercial Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of post-articles commercial experience directly within a corporate environment (experience outside of an audit or accounting firm).
- Systems Fluency: Practical, hands-on Caseware experience is non-negotiable.
- Languages: Fully bilingual with a strong preference for an Afrikaans-speaking professional.
- Advantageous: Previous experience within the Property sector and proficiency with MDA property software are highly beneficial.
