Company and Job Description:
A well-established organisation based in Centurion is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers full exposure to the accounting function, including reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and play an important role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Maintain general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations
- Process journal entries and accruals
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions
- Perform site reconciliations
Accounts Management
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on collections
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with budget preparation and forecasting
- Analyse variances and provide detailed explanations
Cash Flow Management
- Monitor cash flow and bank balances
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Assist with payment planning and working capital management
Compliance & Tax
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and statutory returns
- Support external audits and provide required documentation
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare management reports and financial analysis
- Identify financial trends and cost-saving opportunities
- Support management in financial decision-making
Internal Controls
- Maintain strong internal controls and procedures
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records
- Identify and mitigate financial risks
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy of financial reports
- Timely completion of month-end processes
- Compliance with statutory deadlines
- Reduction in reconciliation discrepancies
- Effective cash flow management
- Minimised audit findings
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- BCom in Accounting / Finance or equivalent qualification
- Completed 3-year articles
- 2–3 years’ accounting experience
- Experience in financial reporting and reconciliations
- ERP/accounting system exposure (Sage, SAP, Syspro, Oracle, Pastel, etc.)
- Professional registration (SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA) advantageous
