About the position
A JSE-listed property investment and asset management company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their dynamic finance team on a 7-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager. A successful candidate must have skills in General Ledger management and full creditors function. This role requires a hands-on finance professional who is detail-oriented and able to work in a structured, deadline-driven environment. This is a great opportunity to work for a JSE-listed company, gaining hands-on experience with a respected property investment firm that owns and manages key retail assets across South Africa. Key Responsibilities General Ledger Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger Process and review journal entries Investigate and resolve ledger discrepancies Prepare supporting schedules for audits Creditors (Accounts Payable) Manage the full creditors function Process and verify supplier invoices Perform supplier reconciliations Prepare payment runs and ensure timely payments Resolve supplier queries and maintain accurate records Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist with financial reporting and management accounts Support budgeting processes Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies Assist with audit preparation and documentation Minimum Requirements National Diploma or BCom in Finance, Accounting, or related field 3-5 years' experience in Accountant or similar role Strong experience in: General Ledger management Creditors / Accounts Payable Advanced MS Excel skills Experience working on accounting systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, Pastel, or similar)
