About the position
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our client's Finance team. The successful candidate will perform comprehensive financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and support to the Finance Manager. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly management accounts and budgets for allocated portfolios.
- Process journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Draft financial statements using Caseware/Draftworx and assist with interim and year-end reporting.
- Manage tax obligations, including provisional tax, company tax, and VAT submissions.
- Attend portfolio management meetings, providing financial insights and stakeholder reports.
- Assist with annual audits, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor queries.
- Support ad hoc finance requirements and collaborate with various stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BCom Financial degree with major in Accounting.
- Completion of Articles at a recognized Audit or Accounting Firm (SAICA or SAIPA).
- Experience in management accounting: budgeting, forecasting, monthly management accounts.
- Property and investment experience is advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
- Proficient in management accounting practices including accruals, prepayments, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with Draftworx or Caseware preferred.
- Knowledge of company tax, provisional tax, and VAT.
- Advanced MS Excel; basic MS Outlook and MS Teams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills.
