About the position
Upper Highway - Our client is a professional accounting and advisory firm seeking an Accountant to support their diverse portfolio of clients. They provide a full range of financial, taxation, and compliance services across various industries. The firm is known for consistent service delivery, technical expertise, and a strong focus on long-term client relationships.
The Accountant will manage a designated client portfolio while delivering full monthly accounting, reporting, and tax compliance services. The role includes overseeing junior staff, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate submissions across various statutory platforms.
The successful candidate will handle both bookkeeping oversight and higher-level accounting responsibilities. Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full monthly accounting support, including bank statement capturing and transaction processing
- Oversee and guide junior bookkeeping support
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs
- Review and sign off payroll processing and PAYE submissions
- Complete VAT calculations, reconciliations, and submissions
- Draft annual financial statements
- Prepare personal income tax calculations and submissions
- Prepare company income tax calculations and submissions
- Manage client communication via email and telephone
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff
- Maintain accurate records across multiple systems and compliance platforms
- Ensure timely delivery of all statutory submissions
- Support year-end processes and client reviews
- Assist with various compliance matters, including labor-related submissions

Requirements:
- Minimum undergraduate qualification in Accounting
- SAICA/SAIPA accreditation or training preferred (in progress/partial accreditation considered)
- 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting firm environment
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio
- Proficiency in Sage Online Accounting or Pastel, Sage Payroll, SARS E-Filing, EasyFile
- Experience with Xero Accounting is beneficial
- CaseWare Cloud is advantageous
- Knowledge of Workman’s Compensation and Department of Labor submissions
Remuneration:
R15 000 – R20 000
