About the position
Our client in the mining industry is seeking an Accountant (Fixed Term Contract) to prepare accurate financial reports, ensure compliance with statutory and company policies, monitor budgets, and support decision-making through detailed financial analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Implement the unit operations plan, monitor daily execution, and track performance against targets.
- Prepare and maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations, process journals, and complete month-end reporting accurately and on time.
- Manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and ensure financial compliance with IFRS and company policies.
- Handle fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, acquisitions/disposals, and CWIP tracking.
- Oversee inventory processing, asset settlements, and related financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and addressing queries.
- Identify process gaps and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to SHE standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including service providers.
- Support recruitment, supervise staff performance, foster development, and ensure compliance with HR policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting or financial reporting, preferably in the mining or industrial sector.
- Proven experience in general ledger management, reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and month-end reporting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, regulatory, and statutory financial requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
