About the position

Exciting Opportunity with Our Client
Our client, a well-established and well known FMCG manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced and meticulous Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic manufacturing environment with opportunities for growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Management & Reporting

• Record all fixed asset purchases accurately in the general ledger within month-end deadlines
• Ensure monthly reconciliation between fixed asset sub-module and general ledger
• Account for all asset movements including transfers and disposals in accordance with company policy
• Maintain compliance to prevent internal and external audit weaknesses

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Prepare accurate and complete month-end journal entries within deadlines
• Conduct monthly Income Statement reviews ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations within specified timeframes
• Resolve reconciling items before month-end close

Tax Compliance

• Prepare monthly tax computations and related journal entries
• Complete Income Tax Returns and Provisional Tax Payments
• Prepare VAT returns in compliance with South African tax legislation
• Ensure all taxation deadlines are met

Financial Statements & Compliance

• Ensure timely completion of annual financial statements
• Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with relevant legislation
• Stay current on international accounting standards and advise stakeholders
• Maintain robust internal controls and accounting procedures
• Liaise with external auditors and provide timely information

Additional Responsibilities

• Review and release supplier payments promptly
• Approve supplier invoices via Procurement Portal
• Support evolving organizational needs as required

Minimum Requirements


?? Qualifications
Relevant Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance

?? Experience
3-5 years in an Accountant role


Technical Competencies Required

• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong financial background and accounting principles
• Knowledge and experience in South African tax law
• Fixed Asset Register expertise
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
