A dynamic and well-established property portfolio is seeking a skilled Accountant to join its Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, collaboration, and strategic thinking are key.
Role Purpose
You will be responsible for executing a wide range of financial functions including:
- Reviewing financial information
- Performing accounting tasks
- Preparing budgets
- Attending portfolio management meetings
- Supporting the Finance Manager with various financial operations
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
- BCom Financial degree with a major in accounting (required)
- Completed Articles at an Audit or Accounting Firm (SAICA or SAIPA – required)
- Proven experience in:
- Management accounting (budgeting, forecasting, monthly accounts)
- Property and investment accounting (advantageous)
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of IFRS and IFRS for SMMEs
- Proficiency in:
- Budgeting, forecasting, accruals, prepayments
- Drafting financial statements (Draftworx/Caseware preferred)
- Company tax, provisional tax, VAT (advantageous)
- MS Office:
- Excel (Advanced)
- Outlook and Teams (Basic)
- Basic knowledge of MDA (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Compile complete budgets in consultation with Leasing, Repairs and Maintenance, and other departments
- Analyze and format budgets for upload and review
- Update monthly budget forecasts
Accounting & Reporting
- Process journal entries and compile monthly management packs
- Perform month and year-end procedures (accruals, depreciation, provisions)
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare VAT apportionment journals
- Present stakeholder packs and attend portfolio meetings
Year-End & Audit Preparation
- Draft and review financial statements
- Assist with property valuations and tax calculations
- Prepare audit working papers and respond to auditor queries
Tax & VAT Compliance
- Complete and submit provisional and final tax returns
- Respond to SARS queries
- Prepare and review monthly VAT returns
Team Collaboration
- Provide ad hoc financial support to internal stakeholders
