About the position

Location: Pretoria
Job Type: Full-time | Office-based

A dynamic and well-established property portfolio is seeking a skilled Accountant to join its Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, collaboration, and strategic thinking are key.

Role Purpose

You will be responsible for executing a wide range of financial functions including:

  • Reviewing financial information
  • Performing accounting tasks
  • Preparing budgets
  • Attending portfolio management meetings
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with various financial operations
Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • BCom Financial degree with a major in accounting (required)
  • Completed Articles at an Audit or Accounting Firm (SAICA or SAIPA – required)
  • Proven experience in:
    • Management accounting (budgeting, forecasting, monthly accounts)
    • Property and investment accounting (advantageous)
Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of IFRS and IFRS for SMMEs
  • Proficiency in:
    • Budgeting, forecasting, accruals, prepayments
    • Drafting financial statements (Draftworx/Caseware preferred)
    • Company tax, provisional tax, VAT (advantageous)
  • MS Office:
    • Excel (Advanced)
    • Outlook and Teams (Basic)
  • Basic knowledge of MDA (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Compile complete budgets in consultation with Leasing, Repairs and Maintenance, and other departments
  • Analyze and format budgets for upload and review
  • Update monthly budget forecasts
Accounting & Reporting

  • Process journal entries and compile monthly management packs
  • Perform month and year-end procedures (accruals, depreciation, provisions)
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare VAT apportionment journals
  • Present stakeholder packs and attend portfolio meetings
Year-End & Audit Preparation

  • Draft and review financial statements
  • Assist with property valuations and tax calculations
  • Prepare audit working papers and respond to auditor queries
Tax & VAT Compliance

  • Complete and submit provisional and final tax returns
  • Respond to SARS queries
  • Prepare and review monthly VAT returns
Team Collaboration

  • Provide ad hoc financial support to internal stakeholders
