About the position

Our client is looking for a dynamic, hands on Accountant to join their team.

Reporting to the Financial Manager, responsibilities include:

  • Developing, adapting and implementing new processes and procedures as well as the maintenance thereof, to integrate the business unit into the new/existing ERP system
  • Working closely with Product and Development teams to align business requirements
  • Taking ownership of the finance project and ensuring predefined outcomes are met
  • Handling and owning daily financial transactions, including payments, refunds, and adjustments
  • Implementing controls to mitigate financial risk within a hyper-growth environment
  • Continuously implementing automated processes to scale with business needs
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, to align processes and procedures relating to the business unit
  • Managing the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial aspects of the onboarding and maintenance process, including continuing development of the process at scale
  • Taking full ownership of the-payment cycle to ensure complete and accurate payments processing
  • Resolving non-routine queries
  • Preparing and reporting on business unit KPI
  • Reviewing monthly reconciliations
  • Month-end procedures and reporting (income statement+ balance sheet+ operational reporting)
  • Analysing financial data to identify trends, forecast future financial performance, and providing actionable insights to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Working with operations and compliance departments to manage finance related risk
  • Working closely with internal business stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Relevant B.com degree (Honours would be advantageous)
  • SAICA / SAIPA articles
  • 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a similar finance role
  • Proven experience in implementing systems/processes to mitigate financial risk
  • High proficiency in advanced Excel
  • Experience in Retail / FMCG advantageous
  • MySQL/Looker/Qliksense experience advantageous
