The accountant will play a key role in month-end processes, reconciliations, cashflow
management, and oversight of financial transactions.
The nature of the post is such that duties and responsibilities are more of a guide and not an
infinite list. Innovation will be an expectation.
Financial:
? Understand end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, ensuring alignment with
any finance requirements.
? Perform accurate bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, ensuring all reconciliations
are fully balanced and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
? Post and review monthly journals, including accruals, provisions, and adjustments for
accuracy and completeness.
? Ensure payroll journals and statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL) are accurate and
submitted on time.
? Maintain, track, and review the Fixed Asset Register, including monthly depreciation,
disposals, and capitalisation entries; conduct asset audits and ensure compliance with
financial regulations.
? Post and review intercompany transactions and perform reconciliations.
? Support short- and medium-term cash flow planning, including bank transfers and liquidity
oversight.
? Process and reconcile foreign creditor payments, maintaining updated exchange variance
schedules as required.
? Assist in the preparation of monthly forecast cash flows.
? Maintain, update and process lease agreements and monthly journals in line with IFRS 16.
? Assist in preparation of Annual Budgets including P&L, Balance Sheet and ROIC.
? Support management account inputs and participate in monthly financial review meetings.
? Contribute to the completion of month-end and year-end reporting packs.
? Assist in the preparation for external audits and participate where necessary.
? Evaluate financial data and provide insight support for business decision-making when
required.
? Drive improvements in finance processes and internal controls, recommending areas for
efficiency.
? Matric
? B-degree in accounting is advantageous; alternatively, a comparable qualification/certification or equivalent experience will be considered.
? 10 years' experience in accounting with progressive exposure to full finance function.
? Must have a proven track record and strong understanding of bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts, with the ability to ensure all reconciliations are accurate and fully balanced.
? Solid understanding of general ledger structures, reconciliations, and statutory returns.
? Experience with foreign transactions, fixed assets, and intercompany processes.
? Solid understanding and experience across accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
? Understanding of the procurement and sales functions.
? Strong financial systems experience is essential, with proficiency in either Syspro or SAP is
preferable.
? Strong Excel skills and financial reporting are essential and non-negotiable.
? Payroll experience is beneficial for understanding payroll processes, although processing is not a requirement.
? Proficient in Microsoft Word.
? Excellent communication and writing skills in English language (verbal and written).
? Must demonstrate patience, tact, a positive attitude and enthusiasm in their approach.
? The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and objectives.
? Be well organised and deadline driven.

? Able to work both independently and collaboratively within the finance team.

? Year end is December - availability required during this period.
? Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should
