Job Title: AccountantLocation: Sandton, Johannesburg
Job Type: Full-Time
A reputable firm based in Sandton is seeking a qualified Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have completed 3 years of articles and have at least 2 years of post-articles experience in an accounting or auditing environment. Candidates must be SAICA or SAIPA registered and possess strong technical and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements
- Perform reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors, intercompany, etc.)
- Manage general ledger and journal entries
- Process VAT, PAYE, and other SARS submissions
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Review and supervise junior finance staff where applicable
- Prepare reports for management and stakeholders
Minimum Requirements:- Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles (3 years)
- At least 2 years post-articles experience in an Accounting or Auditing role
- Degree in Accounting or Auditing (BCOM or equivalent)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, Pastel, Xero, Sage, or similar)
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS and tax regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Advantages:- Registered Professional Accountant (SAIPA) or Chartered Accountant (SAICA)
- Experience in a firm or consulting environment
- Exposure to multiple industries or clients
- Strong Excel skills and experience with cloud-based accounting systems
