About the position
Our client, a well known entity within the Financial Services sector, is looking for an Accountant to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting function from cash book through to financial statements and reporting to management.
Main Responsibilities
- Preparing cash book entries and payments
- Reviewing payments
- Reviewing cash book entries and receipt of fee income
- Preparing monthly journal entries
- Preparing and reviewing credit card journals and entries
- Monthly preparation of AFS, management income statement
- Monthly analysis of income (versus budget and versus assets)
- Monthly capital adequacy monitoring for reporting to MD
- Regulatory reporting
- Quarterly and annual reporting
- Any other ad hoc regulatory reporting requirements and assistance
- Tax reporting for the different entities (Namibia, Botswana)
- VAT Returns (and payments), income tax, WHT
- Tax follow ups with authorities
- Preparing financial reports for the Directors' meeting
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (BCom, BAccSc, B.Compt or relevant)
- Financial services experience preferred
- Preferably 3-5 years post qualification experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel to an intermediate to advanced level
- Working experience with Business Central accounting system is highly preferred
