Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric required; formal certifications or degrees in Networking, Telecommunications, or IT are strongly preferred.
- Certifications: One or more of the following:
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco CCNA
- Sophos firewall certifications
- Fiber optic certifications
- Physical Fitness: This role involves physical work, including climbing, carrying equipment, and working on high sites in various weather conditions.
Key Technical Skills & Experience
- Networking & Telecommunications:
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cabling, fiber optics, and wireless systems.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls (Cambium, Sophos preferred).
- Network Design & Implementation:
- Configuring routers, switches, and firewall devices.
- Security & Troubleshooting:
- Identifying vulnerabilities, managing security policies, and resolving network issues.
- Protocols & Technologies:
- Experience working with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other standard protocols.
- Cloud & Virtualization:
- Familiarity with cloud networking and virtualized environments.
- Monitoring & Optimisation:
- Use of monitoring tools such as PRTG and DataTill to ensure network performance.
