About the position
The Finance Department seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate for the position of Payroll Officer to provide an efficient, accurate and timeous service to facilitate the administration and payment of employee remuneration and benefits.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate, an Accounting/Business Degree or studying towards one, or a National Diploma in Payroll with a minimum of 5 years' working experience in Payroll/Finance/Human Resources.
- Proven knowledge of Employee taxes, BCEA Act, Labour Law, and related legislation affecting employees.
- At least 1 year working knowledge of SAP: HCM & PY, ESS, GRC and SAP:FI modules or other similar ERP HCM/PY and FI experience.
- SAP Concur experience an added advantage.
Job responsibilities include the following:
Payroll Management
- Ensures that earnings, employer contributions, statutory and voluntary deductions have been accurately calculated, and accounted for.
- Ensure timeous payments to employees and third parties (employee service providers) (Discovery, Momentum, garnishee orders etc.)
- Liaise with service providers regarding payroll related matters (medical aid, retirement funding, group insurance.)
- Ensure timeous and accurate implementation and payment of ITA88 Third Party Appointments.
- Accurate and timeous monthly submission of EMP201 returns to SARS.
- Accurate and timeous bi-annual reconciliation and submission of EMP501 returns to SARS.
- Monthly UIF and ROE submissions to the Department of Labour.
- Annual ROE submissions to the Department of Labour.
- Ensure that payslips are produced accurately and made available to staff via ESS.
- Calculate and process termination payments.
- Calculate and process directors' payments.
- Prepare monthly reports as requested.
- Interpret awards/agreements and contracts concerning overtime, shift allowances, etc.
- Liaise with staff and management on payroll-related queries.
- Ensure that any correspondence relating to the payroll is properly actioned and filed in terms of POPIA.
- Be able to handle all payroll related queries.
- Check all overtime input captured by the HR department on SAP against overtime sheets.
Financial Accounting
- Accurate and timeous processing of payroll accrual and provision journals.
- Ensure accurate monthly reconciliation of general ledger and payroll system.
- Ensure timeous and accurate processing of all employee claims (km's, meals, advances, cellphones etc.) in line with SENTECH's policies.
- Investigate and follow up on general ledger reconciling differences identified.
- Ensuring S&T & expense reimbursements are correctly captured timeously and accurately.
- Maintenance of an accurate and organized filing system on a continuous basis, manually as well as on SharePoint.
- Assisting in preparation of month end and year-end journal entries, adjusting entries and accruals.
- Preparation of EFT file on any banking platform for transmission of weekly and monthly payments (reimbursement, salaries, and third-party payments).
- Have the ability to interface with auditors (Internal and External).
- Have the competence and willingness to perform other Payroll Officers' or Team Leader's job functions in their absence.
