About the position

Our client, a market leader in the Automotive Sector, is seeking to employ an experienced Operations and Logistics Manager, based in Elandsfontein, Johannesburg East.

6-8 years’ experience in Logistics / Warehouse Management in a Manufacturing environment of which 3-5 years should be at Management level will secure.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years’ experience in Logistics / Warehouse Management in a Manufacturing environment of which 3-5 years should be at Management level.
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite; SAP, ERP Systems, and job-specific software systems).
  • Knowledge of relevant Business Processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant Logistics, Warehousing or related Processes and Practices.
  • Post Graduate Degree in Logistics / Warehouse / Supply Chain Management or related fields (NQF 8).


Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
Logistics Management:

  • Contributes to creating and recommending strategic plans and reviews to achieve operational objectives.
  • Ensures an efficient warehouse operation which can fulfil operational and customer demand.
  • Plans, co-ordinates and monitors the receipt, packing, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  • Manages movement, storage, and preservation of all components.
  • Manages input of movements (transactions) of materials into the ERP system.
  • Manages maintenance of housekeeping.

Continuous Improvement Projects:

  • Keep abreast with technological advancements in the field to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives and projects toward optimising resources and cost.
  • Seek to improve processes and capabilities to enhance operations.
  • Manage and complete projects from planning to implementation within budgetary stipulations.

Financial Management:

  • Contributes to the budget preparation process.
  • Ensures the effective, efficient, economical and transparent use of financial and other resources.
  • Monitors expenditure against budget and ensures spending occurs within budgetary limits.
  • Explores opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Ensures divisional, regional and departmental budget monitoring in line with company financial guidelines.

Governance:

  • Monitors the operation of controls and procedures in order to ensure the integrity of the company.
  • Develops and maintains a quality assurance and improvement program that covers all aspects of the policy and risk activity.
  • Identifies and monitors departmental risks and develop and maintain a risk register.
  • Establishes and maintain a system to monitor the dispositions of results communicated to management.
  • Ensures that all action plans are in place to address internal and external audit findings and monitor progress against these plans.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and policy frameworks within functional area to prevent fruitless, wasteful, and irregular expenditure.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Represents the company in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Solves problems creatively whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with the company core values.
  • Provides advice and guidance to Management on internal stakeholder related matters.
  • Manages relationships in accordance with policies and procedures and legal requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors a stakeholder management system.

People Management:

  • Monitors and measures performance quarterly by conducting employee appraisals.
  • Identifies areas of development and draws up action plans to address poor performance.
  • Ensures ongoing training and development of employees.
  • Addresses employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
  • Sets performance objectives for team by cascading of the organisation’s initiatives into individual performance contracts.
  • Ensures that all employees have signed performance agreements.
  • Monitors the implementation of HR policies within the Department.
