About the position

JOB PURPOSE

The Lift and Escalator Service Technician is responsible for equipment to be maintained or repaired assuring the highest standards of quality and safety within the assigned round.

TASKS

· Carry out regular maintenance according to the program and procedures.

· Complete all paperwork requirements.

· Report any problems experienced / expected on the site to the Service Manager

· Leave the site in a clean and secure manner.

· Protect the company's reputation by always acting in a professional manner.

· Ensure lift room and escalator equipment is kept clean, tidy and in good working order

· Make necessary minor replacements and repairs to affected parts of lift equipment.

· Answer calls promptly and confirm urgently with an accurate ETA

· Be available & prepared when on after-hours duty

· Get to the site in accordance with the response terms after receiving a dispatch call.

· Ensure that an appropriate person on site is kept informed of arrival, departure and status of the lift.

· Follow established procedures to ensure that the equipment is repaired/serviced in a correct and safe manner

· Properly shut down a machine which is regarded as unsafe and unable to be made function properly, according to established procedures

· Complete all the required paperwork and records.

· Propose material alterations to the Service Manager where it is felt the performance of the equipment can be improved by doing so, and to submit all customers’ current and updated requests.

· Carry out any assigned material alterations according to established procedures and work instructions.

· Represent company by demonstrating the highest standards when dealing with the public and customers

· Maintain general personal appearance and work clothes to a high standard and comply with the requirements of the Company Dress Code.

· Keep the relationship with customers or customers' representatives at a courteous level

· Keep maintenance vehicles always clean and well maintained.

· Keep correct tools and spare parts at all times.

· Keep the customers informed.

· Leave each site in a cleaner condition than when you arrived.

· Keep your paperwork tidy and up-to-date at all times.

· Drive and promote safe behaviour in accordance with the Company OH&S Management System

· Carry out all work in strict compliance with company safety rules and quality assurance policies.

· Comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

· Ensure you are represented in formulating Health & Safety Policy through their Branch Health and Safety Committee

· Report Hazards to the Branch H&S Coordinator or a Health and Safety Committee member;

· Investigate Accidents in your work area, or promptly report/escalate to Management for investigation and follow up

· Attend H&S training and H&S Meetings as required or part of the job; and

· Take part in Fire and Emergency Drills

After Hours Callout

All employees engaged in the servicing, maintenance and installation of lifts and escalators will be included on the After Hours Callout Roster at the discretion of the company. Notwithstanding the fact that the Employee may not have been on the After Hour Roster for any previous period or periods does not exclude the employee being on the roster in the future.



Maintain necessary records to support the maintenance operation

- Submit call back close-out reports.

- Follow the maintenance plan laid out and sign the plan and log book for each visit.

- Ensure documentation (Servicemen's Record of Work) as evidence of work performed is accurate.

- Ensure proper and accurate time keeping and recording for the jobholder and assistants and apprentices under the jobholder’s control.
