Junior Mechanical Draughtsman

About the position

My client (Silverton, PTA) is seeking a Junior Mechanical Draughtsman proficient in SolidWorks to join our dynamic team specialising in industrial automation and bespoke machinery. If you have a passion for turning conceptual designs into tangible engineering marvels, this role is tailor-made for you. As their Mechanical Draughtsman, you'll play a pivotal role in crafting detailed engineering drawings, collaborating closely with design engineers and machine shop experts to bring cutting-edge machinery and equipment to life.
Requirements:

• Draughting Diploma /Certificate in SolidWorks.
• Sheetmetal/ Laser cutting experience.
• 2 years’ Mechanical design/draughting engineering experience (2 Years +).
• 2 years’ 3D CAD experience on Solidworks.
• Automation industry advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Create accurate, readable technical drawings as per designs.
• Compile drawing project plan, naming conventions and number generation.
• Generate 3D parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
• Generate detail drawings (project planning; parts; sub-assemblies; assemblies; revisions and redesigns).
• Has proficient knowledge of working with sheet metal and weldment.
• Ensure conversions of different file formats to complete drawings
• Implement revisions and redesigns on all relevant drawings.
• Create, import, and ensure that correct templates are used at all times (Internal/External)
• Ensure that a fast and accurate bill of materials is generated.
• Ensure accurate dimensioning and detailing of drawings.
• Attend site visits as and when required for:
  • Site establishment for 3D modelling.
  • To verify discrepancies on existing drawings.
  • Red lining issue for construction.
  
  


• Assist internal departments as and when required (marketing; production; manufacturing; R&D).
