About the position

Postion Summary:
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the SARAO and its stakeholders’ Environmental policies and procedures that will ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and ISO accreditation in the Karoo.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring the Integrated Environmental Management PlansConducting regular site inspections to identify and address environmental concernsDevelopment and implementation of EMS Procedures and PoliciesConducting and providing environmental awarenessConducting environmental investigations; andFacilitating and coordinating of permits, record of decisions and authorisations

Minimum Qualification:

• Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:

• 3-3 years

• National Diploma in Environmental Sciences/ManagementRegistration or eligibility to register with SACNASP and/ or EAPASA (advantageous)Three (3) years proven working experience as an environmental officer working in construction and operational environment
• Proven and relevant exposure to environmental management and legal complianceProven experience in environmental sustainabilityComputer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• )Driver’s license

Experience:

• Relevant environmental policies, legislation, guidelines and standard is a pre-requestProven experience in implementation and maintaining of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemProject management

Knowledge:

• Relevant environmental policies, legislation, guidelines and standard is a pre-requestTools/software relevant to EnvironmentSound technical knowledge of risk assessment and evaluation, environmental management tools, programmes and systemsRegulations and environmental statutory requirements
