About the position
Our client, a leader in the engineering and construction space, is looking for 2 Construction Managers to lead their projects across various locations.
The main purpose of the role is the management, control, co-ordination, directing and evaluation of construction and maintenance activities in a diverse range of industries such as power generation, petrochemical mineral processing and heavy engineering.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Selection of construction team based on skills required.
- Onsite management and control of:
- construction team
- subcontractors
- planning
- budgeting
- safety
- supervising and co-ordinating all aspects of the project
- communicating and reporting work progress to customer.
- Ensure execution of the construction activities are completed in strict accordance of OHS Act 85 of 1993, Construction Regulations, Pressure Equipment Regulation and adhering to the project execution plan, engineering design, specification, codes and standards.
- Develop construction methodology, gear requirements, resource mobilization and site establishment plans.
- Set performance targets for direct reports, discuss and monitor performance.
- Maintain on-site relations with the customer to ensure continuity and repeat orders on a negotiated basis. Explore opportunities while on site and discuss with customer all possible future projects and partnerships where feasible.
- Conduct, develop and implement plans of action to meet customer's needs. Exploring the customer relationship and developing a partnership as to meet customer's needs but keep the Company out of risk and in a profitable position.
- Work closely with the Project Manager on each project
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 certificate;
- National diploma in mechanical engineering or N6 in mechanical engineering is a prerequisite;
- Qualified tradesman candidates with 10 years cumulative experience in the contracting industry within power and petrochemical environment will be considered.
- Registration with SACPCMP as Professional Construction Manager is highly advantageous.
- Willing and able to travel, and manage, various sites
