Accounting Manager

About the position

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual with a completed accounting degree, SAIPA/SAICA traineeship and management experience to join an accounting firm based in Somerset West.

The candidate will manage a group of young aspiring accountants and should have the drive and passion to invest in young minds. The team consists of 3 to 6 trainee accountants.

In addition to gaining extensive additional accounting and tax experience across a wide range of clients, the firm also has a strong focus on personal development to prepare trainees for the "real world".

The culture is fast-paced and trainees are assigned clients and given responsibility beyond the norm from a very early stage. The ideal candidate should be eager to teach, self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Client engagement.
• Assist the Senior Manager in training the trainees
• Planning and management of team's workload
• Review and approval of team member's work
• Monthly management statements
• Vat reconciliations and submission on e-filing
• Processing of bank statements
• Drafting of financial statements
• Review of various SARS returns
• Correspondence with the SARS regarding various SARS matters
• Submission of supporting documentation to the SARS
• Management of monthly budgets of the team
• Management of monthly cash targets of the team

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Formal Diploma or Degree in Accounting
• SAIPA qualification and registration will be beneficial
• Good knowledge of the various tax laws
• 2 to 5 years post articles experience
• Should have a passion for training young accounting trainees
• Proven record of accomplishment with strong management skills of team members
• Knowledge of Caseware, Pastel, Xero and Excel accounting software
• Should be a person that takes initiative in performing his or her role
• Should be familiar with SARS and e-filing
• Detailed orientated with good time management skills and is able to prioritise affectively
• Should have a strong attention to detail
