About the position
DBN000184 – Senior Mine Geologist - Tzaneen
Purpose of the Job:
To provide technical expertise, leadership, and support for safe and efficient mining operations
Required Qualifications & Experience
- BSc./BTech in Geology (BSc Hons. Is advantageous)
- At least 3-5 years’ experience post qualification as a Senior Geologist
- Experience with 3D Geological modelling software(e.g. Maptek Vulcan, SpatialXL)
- Must possess intensive core logging experience
- Experience on overseeing a surface drilling programme
- Knowledge of exploration programme and be able to present data
Technical Tasks, Competencies & Experience:
- Sampling and core logging.
- Always make sure that the "Diamond Drill Core Logging and Sampling Procedure" is followed for QA/QC compliance.
- Supervising geological aspects in different areas and sample dispatch.
- Evaluate the results of the resources.
- Keeping an eye on drilling meters and updating mine plans
- Make sure the drilling direction is followed according to the plan.
- Communicating with drilling supervisors.
- Assure geological data interpretation and grade control.
