About the position
A leading manufacturing company in the packaging sector is looking for an experienced Quality Supervisor with strong experience in quality management systems, auditing, and compliance to join their team in Ottery, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in overseeing quality processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, including ISO9001 and related quality frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System.
- Manage incoming, in-process, and final product inspections and approvals.
- Oversee microbiological and environmental sampling plans.
- Ensure calibration and verification of measuring equipment.
- Approve manufacturing processes and verify QC inspection records.
- Support implementation of AQS/SPC as required.
- Translate orders, contracts, and specifications into inspection instructions.
- Independently resolve operational quality issues within defined parameters.
- Lead customer corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and CAPA processes.
- Conduct and participate in internal audits.
- Supervise and support the Quality Control team, including training and development.
- Improve standard work and update skills matrices for QC Inspectors.
- Enhance communication between operational teams and stakeholders.
- Assist with compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audits, regulatory reporting, and SHEQ continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality or Engineering, or National Diploma in Food or Packaging Technology.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quality Supervisor.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (BRCGS, ISO9001).
- Internal auditing experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate and influence others.
- Strong attention to detail, resilience, and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on high-quality output.
