Operations Accountant

About the position

This role is for the Accountant who wants to be in the thick of operations, solving problems, tightening processes, understanding stock movement and making sure the business runs as efficiently as the products move through the supply chain.
Our client is a major player in the pharmaceutical supply chain industry, operating in a fast-moving environment where timing, accuracy and operational efficiency are everything. Based in Johannesburg North, they’re looking for an Operations Accountant who enjoys getting involved in the business beyond just finance. You’ll work closely with operational teams, management and finance leadership, connecting the dots between numbers, stock, processes and performance. This is the kind of role where you’ll need commercial instinct, operational awareness and the ability to keep calm when the pace picks up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the finance and operations teams with day-to-day financial management
• Analyse operational costs, stock movement, and supply chain performance
• Prepare management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reports
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Monitor margins, operational efficiencies, and process improvements
• Partner with operational teams to improve controls and reporting accuracy
• Assist with audits, compliance and month-end processes
• Drive financial discipline across operational departments

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Relevant experience in accounting with operational involvement
• Strong understanding of stock, costing, and operational finance processes
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement ability
