About the position
Job Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for efficiently conducting all raw material, in process and final product analysis; implementing and maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Hygiene Practices and Personnel Hygiene; and, as a member of the Food Safety Team, ensuring Management of the Food Safety Documentation.
Role reports directly to the Lab Supervisor and indirectly to the QA Supervisor and QA Manager.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Diploma or degree in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Food and Nutrition, or Analytical Chemistry
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- FMCG, Manufacturing sector experience essential
- Proven ability to manage, maintain and deliver against Customer requirements

Responsibilities:
Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
- Conduct chemical and physical analyses of edible oils and fats including:
- Perform routine testing
- Accurately record, interpret, and report results within required timeframes
Sampling & Sample Management:
- Collect representative samples from production lines, tank farms, and bulk road tankers
- Ensure correct sample handling, identification, storage, and retention procedures
- Maintain retain sample library per FSSC 22000 requirements
Calibration, Verification and Instrument Care:
- Perform daily verifications and calibrations on laboratory instruments such as:
- Report instrument faults and arrange maintenance when required
- Maintain calibration and maintenance records
Quality Assurance and Food Safety:
- Ensure all testing activities comply with FSSC 22000, RSPO, and customer quality requirements
- Identify non-conformances and assist in root cause investigations
- Implement GMP, GHP, allergen management, and traceability requirements
- Support internal audits and customer audits through test result verification and documentation
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test sheets, LIMS entries, and certificates of analysis (COAs)
- Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements (Codex Standard, ISO methods, PORIM/MPOB methods, AOCS)
Safety, Hygiene and Housekeeping:
- Follow all occupational health and safety procedures, including chemical handling and PPE use
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
