About the Position

Our client is a well-established third party manufacturing and packaging facility of health and nutritional supplements for a number of well-recognised domestic and international brands. Products include effervescent tablets, sachets, creams, ointments, soaps and liquids.

Plans for growth have resulted in an exciting challenge for a Supply Chain & Purchasing Manager who, reporting to the Operations Director, will join the management team, supervising a buyer plus four receiving and logistics staff.

Liaising and interacting closely with department heads in operations, production, quality and finance, duties will include:

  • Purchasing of raw materials, packaging materials and other starting materials
  • Ensuring consistency in procurement
  • Material and stock management
  • System management (In-house purchasing, inventory and production software)
  • Anticipating, troubleshooting and solving supplier problems
  • Expediting, de-expediting and issuing change orders to meet manufacturing demands
  • Managing and maintaining supplier forecasts and delivery expectations
  • Evaluating and communicating with suppliers
  • Vendor contract management
  • Evaluating price increases, material changes to orders and contracts already in place
  • Sourcing and researching new suppliers
  • Comparing specifications and prices of competitive items
  • Negotiating cost effective rates to improve profitability
  • Ensuring legal and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance
  • Maintaining and improving a preferred supplier database
  • Setting and implementing procurement strategies
  • Preparing and maintaining effective procurements controls and systems

Our search is for a Bachelor of Commerce graduate or similar, with management experience, looking for an opportunity to grow with the company. Experience in supply chain and purchasing management gained in a pharmaceutical, cosmetics, FMCG, manufacturing or closely related environment would be beneficial.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree or similar
  • Purchasing management experience

  • Strong mathematical skills/high level of numeracy
  • Advanced Computer literacy, i.e. MS Office with high proficiency in MS Excel
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills

  • People skills, such as listening, persuading and negotiating

  • Advanced organisational skills, i.e. ability to prioritise
  • Being able to work well under pressure
