About the Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • A strong understanding and ability to implement the Labour Relations Act
  • Physical site inspections
  • Calculating and drafting Employee and Council claims for wages, o/t, etc
  • The issuing of Compliance orders
  • Daily investigating and resolving of disputes/complaints/queries
  • Securing registration and general compliance with collective agreements
  • Securing compliance and any remuneration underpayment matters
  • Investigating late referrals
  • Informal dispute prevention and conflict resolution by visiting factories
  • Formal dispute resolutions: By acting as an accredited conciliator at dispute proceedings
  • To interpret and apply the policies of the dispute resolution procedures in collective agreements, the Act and the CCMA at appropriate conciliations
  • To advise employees and employers of their rights, duties and obligations in terms of the Agreement procedures, by checking precedents which may have been established at Arbitration proceedings and the Labour Court

About The Employer

The National Bargaining Council for the Clothing Manufacturing Industry (NBCCMI) is a statutory body established under the Labour Relations Act (LRA) 66 of 1995. The NBCCMI has a national footprint with its Head Office in Cape Town and three regional offices, called Chambers, one being the Northern Chamber.

The NBCCMI's function is to serve the employers and employees of the country's clothing manufacturing industry, offering mediation between employers and employees, enforcement of the Council's collective agreement, provides primary health care services, collects contributions and administers the clothing manufacturing industry's regional provident funds. In the Northern Chamber the aforementioned services are provided to 250 employers and 12168 employees.
