About the Position

Well established Freight / Logistics Company based in Richards Bay is looking for a Shift Supervisor

Educational Requirements / Experience

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Logistics or Warehouse Distribution or equivalent qualification
  • 5 Years' experience required
  • Freight Handling Management
  • Warehousing Management
  • Knowledge of SAP and Voyager IT Systems
  • Code 8 and Clamp Truck F3/C

Duties

  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and ensure adherence by subordinates
  • Maintain all SHEQ standards consistently i.e. incident prevention, job observations, daily safety talks (BAT's), housekeeping
  • Ensure that the 5s principles are maintained always
  • Ensure housekeeping remains a focus always and that all equipment are always in pristine condition
  • Ensure that all assets are in good working condition, and that checklists/inspections are conducted correctly
  • Ensure all monthly inspections are conducted as required and any deviations are recorded, communicated, and actioned within target dates
  • Conduct at least two job observations per week and ensure the relevant documentation is filed correctly
  • Ensure a quick Turnaround of trucks loading from the facility
  • Manage production activities - ensure no delays from production
  • Ensure trucks loading at the facility are paper friendly and in good condition and are cross checked after loading to ensure accuracy and that no trucks are either over or short loaded
  • Ensure good stacking practices are maintained always and maintain a 100% accuracy of storage bays.
  • Implement the plan for your shift ensuring that it is achieved efficiently and effectively
  • Conduct facility stock counts as per facility schedule
  • Conduct proper shift hand overs at the start and end of each shift, ensuring that all relevant information is communicated accurately
  • Ensure relevant matters are communicated effectively to own staff, client and Company thus ensuring smooth functioning of the operation
  • At the end of every shift provide an accurate and comprehensive shift report
  • When monitoring, shift provide an accurate and complete shift report covering the 24 hours to 06h00 and distribute as per distribution list
  • File all relevant documents as per good business principles
  • Ensure all staff adhere to Company, SHERQ and operational requirements and that they fully understand operational requirements
  • Control and manage staff time keeping, and where relevant ensure manual time sheets are completed accurately and timeously
  • Ensure all staff always are wearing the correct PPE and uniforms
  • Where required initiate the appropriate disciplinary procedures in consultation with site management
