We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, and strategic analysis for our operations.
As the Financial Accountant, you’ll support key financial activities including monthly processing, group reporting, cash flow management, tax compliance, and year-end close.
Minimum requirements:
- Newly Qualified CA(SA).
- BCom degree with SAIPA, CIMA.
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, and income tax.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), and experience with accounting software (Syspro advantageous).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and process orientation.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Perform and manage full month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and post journal entries, including accruals, provisions, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Monitor and manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple branches or entities.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate depreciation and disposal accounting.
- Prepare and submit accurate VAT, PAYE, and tax returns in compliance with SARS deadlines.
- Provide support in preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS and group accounting policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, managing queries and ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
- Assist in compiling annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for management decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow positions, perform bank reconciliations, and maintain liquidity forecasting.
- Conduct detailed reviews of supplier and customer accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Manage and report on BEE scorecard performance and compliance.
- Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives within finance.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate financial performance and insights to key stakeholders and branch operations.
- Maintain payroll reconciliations and assist with payroll-related journal entries and GL allocations.
- Track project spend and capital expenditure to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Liaise with statutory bodies such as SARB and STATS SA for regulatory reporting.
- Support the Finance Manager in ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.
- Act as a super user for financial systems, assisting with troubleshooting and user training where necessary.
