About the position

Senior Committee Secretary (Advanced) - 3 Month Contract

An established national financial services institution is seeking an experienced Senior Committee Secretary (Advanced) to provide high-level corporate governance and company secretarial support within the Office of the CEO. This is an exciting short-term contract opportunity for a seasoned governance professional who thrives in a fast-paced executive environment and has strong experience supporting boards and executive committees.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring effective governance practices, supporting board and committee operations, and providing expert company secretarial services to senior leadership structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide corporate governance advisory support to Boards, Board Committees, Executive Committees and senior executives.
  • Deliver end-to-end company secretarial services including preparation of agendas, meeting packs, notices and attendance registers.
  • Attend and minute Board, Board Committee and Executive Committee meetings, ensuring accurate documentation of discussions, decisions and resolutions.
  • Maintain statutory records, board documentation and institutional governance records.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, corporate governance frameworks and best practice standards.
  • Assist with board induction programmes, director development initiatives and board evaluations.
  • Manage registers for declarations of interest, resolutions and governance documentation.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and support governance reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of governance-related sections of corporate reports and regulatory submissions.

Minimum Requirements

  • LLB, BAdmin (Law), BCom (Law), BA (Law) or equivalent qualification.
  • Advantageous: Higher Diploma or Master's Degree in Company Law.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in a company secretarial environment.
  • At least 4 years' experience as a Company Secretary or Assistant Company Secretary within the public sector environment.

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of Company Law, including the Companies Act (2008) and related regulations.
  • Sound understanding of corporate governance frameworks and best practice, including King IV.
  • Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and governance frameworks applicable to public entities.
  • Experience supporting boards, board committees and executive committees.
  • Advanced experience with board management and company secretarial systems.

  • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple governance processes simultaneously.
