About the position

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain & utilise warehouse floor & stock storage optimally.
  • Responsible for measuring Courier and Freight Forwarder service delivery as well as obtain & maintain best possible pricing.
  • Responsible for daily reporting on Customer Back Orders, daily stock receipt as well as daily stock dispatch along with planned dispatch. This report will be shared with the Sales, Services & the
  • Procurement Department daily.
  • Responsible for weekly / monthly completion of H&S checklists as well as reporting this to the H&S
  • Manager as well as Supply Chain Manager.
  • Responsible for the management of the Warehouse Company vehicles and motorised equipment through following issued procedures and conducting regular inspections as required by Company policies. This includes reporting on the condition of the vehicles and equipment, as well as managing planned repairs & maintenance.
  • Ensure effective communication is facilitated between departments to ensure & maintain optimal customer service.
  • Develop, teach, and reinforce safety guidelines and protocols which include warehouse procedures & processes.
  • Direct, coordinate, assign, monitor and review the work of individuals engaged in warehouse & related duties.
  • Develop and implement new systems, best practices, demand planning, and other optimizations to ensure cost, time efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse output.
  • Accountable for all goods in storage. This includes (but is not limited to) correct packing and stacking of product for storage, correct product to bin allocation, stock rotation on the FIFO (First In First Out) principal, material handling during storage and ensure no stock outs occur in collaboration with the procurement department.
  • Accountable for weekly Cycle Counts, monthly stock takes, discrepancy reporting, discrepancy investigations as well as stock reconciliations.
  • Facility management to ensure that warehouse buildings remain in a state of good repair and up to date in terms of H&S (Health & Safety) requirements.
  • Ensure that all warehouse staff, employees, Group company employees, general visitors as well as customers adhere to all warehouse rules, protocols as well as H&S requirements.
  • Meet and exceed the agreed performance objectives.
  • Ensure that the highest level of customer service & professionalism is always maintained.
  • Responsible to ensure that daily forward route planning on collections & deliveries are maintained to improve time efficiency & expenditure on running costs.
  • Perform any ad hoc duties deemed appropriate by the Supply Chain Manager / MD.
  • Analyse, maintain and build internal warehouse staff communications skills.
  • Motivate, build & develop warehouse staff in accordance with staff skills and development.
  • Ensure that Quarterly staff KPA/KPI assessments for warehouse staff are completed and submission due dates are met.

Key Performance Areas

  • Ensure that all OHSA rules and regulations are followed at all times
  • Implementation and maintaining of all systems to improve efficiencies
  • Monthly & weekly /ad hoc stock take involvement/manage processes and preparation
  • Inventory Management - Receiving and Dispatch
  • Ensure alignment of all work processes to the required quality standards
  • Planning and managing logistics, routes, transportation, and customer services
  • Arrange warehouse in terms of housekeeping, product storage and stacking.
  • Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce
  • Meet cost in line with budget, productivity, accuracy, and timeline targets

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply chain or Warehouse Management
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a managerial role in a warehouse environment
  • Extensive experience in working according to SOP's.
  • Warehouse management system experience will be an advantage
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
