About the position
Our client, a well-established Manufacturing (construction industry sector) company based in Durban, is looking for Translators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translation: Provide accurate and contextually relevant translations of various documents, including business correspondence, reports, and technical materials, from Mandarin or Cantonese to English and vice versa
- Interpretation: Facilitate effective communication in meetings, conferences, and other interactions by providing real-time interpretation between Mandarin and English
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough proofreading and editing to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of translated content, while meeting tight deadlines
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with colleagues and stakeholders to clarify ambiguous points, gather additional context, and ensure a smooth translation process.
- Administrative Support: As and when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Chinese Studies, Linguistics, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Chinese Translator, with a strong portfolio of successful translations
- Valid documentation to reside and work in the Country
- Driver's licence and own transport preferable
- Ability and willingness to travel on business trips throughout the year
