About the position

Job Summary:

The Bees, a pioneering new online rooftop solar aggregator dedicated to providing innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solar energy solutions to households and businesses across South Africa, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Manager to join their team in Claremont, Cape Town on a full-time basis.

The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for promoting and selling solar energy solutions to homeowners, developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, serving as their trusted advisor on their power solutions choice.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a technical background with the ability to speak authoritatively to clients on The Bees' solar and back up energy solutions, following initial product training.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, serving as their trusted advisor on their power solutions choice. This includes having in-person, email, and phone consultations with customers to discuss their power needs relevant to their affordability and home.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Oversee the sales process from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Analyse sales data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Present and explain the benefits and advantages of solar energy solutions to clients, highlighting cost savings, environmental impact, and long-term value.
  • Address key energy solution queries from customers and provide product training and guidance to customers, enabling them to navigate and leverage The Bees' platforms and solutions effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer Success Manager and other relevant team members to ensure a seamless customer experience from onboarding to post-implementation support.
  • Address and attend to all customer queries diligently, tracking required follow ups and documenting all customer interactions (with the assistance of the Customer Success Manager).
  • Proactively educate customers on new product features, updates, and enhancements such as ad on products, helping them maximize the value and benefits of The Bees' offerings.
  • At times, attend conferences and related events to engage with customers, showcase The Bees' products and services, and stay informed about industry trends.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in electrical or electronic engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional business or sales qualifications are preferred.
  • 4+ years' work experience in a sales management role
  • Experience in the home improvement or power industry would be preferred, and experience in solar would be ideal.
  • Relevant experience with achieving sales targets and customer relationship management.
  • Strong technical background and the ability to pick up new information about The Bees' products, power solutions and energy regulations, quickly.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities and the capability to engage with key stakeholders.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to customize offerings to meet clients' needs.
  • Proficient in analysing energy consumption data and conducting energy audits.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and customers at any one time.
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainable solutions.
